A trip to film birds, becomes a trip to save birds

A trip to film birds, becomes a trip to save birds.

Dr Munira, an ecologist and conservationist from Kedah, who is also one of our coordinators for this wildlife documentary shoot, said she has never seen this happened before after all these years of observing shore birds from Kedah and Penang. The birds are trapped in a net, which we reckon is set up by the locals to eat or sell them.

These species of shore birds are rare in Malaysia. They’ve travelled a long way from different countries like Russia, Finland, Japan etc and stop by here to take a rest. They are protected birds and shouldn’t be hunted down like that, because it can easily cause them to become endangered.

Hopefully, our documentary and Dr Munira’s effort can help to raise awareness on this issue and stop incidents like this from happening again in the future.
